Happnin Boy is all about acoustic blues. A one man wailing and hollering machine! The difference is he is not from Mississippi or Chicago U.S.A but from the Essex Delta U.K.
Born in February 1967, Happnin Boy had an interesting youth, where his parents became ex-patriots and lived and worked all round the world. When 15 he had his first encounter with the blues. In an attic he discovered a box full of old cassettes with such artists as The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, John Mayall and Jimi Hendrix. This prompted him to pick up a guitar and thus Happnin Boy was born!
Why Happnin Boy? A friend once said to him whenever you play that blues something's always "happnin" around you. Meaning you can't get bored when seeing it! Enthusiastic, manic, deeply emotional, fun and extrovert are all words, which have been described about a Happnin Boy performance.
His influences on guitar and vocal style are deeply rooted in blues folklore. Son House, Mississippi Fred McDowell, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker are some names that attribute to the Happnin Boy sound. With his unique guitar known affectionately as "Jolly pig" he sings songs about loss, confidence and good times!
See it to believe it!!
Happnin' Boy!
